Psychiatrist III Position

As a Psychiatrist III at the Health & Human Services Comm, you will play a critical role in providing advanced psychiatric assessment and treatment to residents in our state-supported living centers. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care and treatment plans, ensuring the highest quality of care for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct psychiatric assessments and develop treatment plans for residents
• Administer and monitor medications, including psychotropic medications
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and treatment
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulations and standards
• Manage polypharmacy and ensure safe and effective medication use
• Make clinical decisions and provide leadership in psychiatric services
• Ensure resident-centered care and promote a culture of respect and dignity
Requirements:
• Must be licensed as a medical doctor by the State of Texas and be Board Certified or Board eligible in Psychiatry
• Must have current unrestricted registration certificate from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)
• Must possess a National Provider Identifier (NPI#) as defined by Medicare Part B and enroll as a Medicaid and Medicare Part B provider
Preferred Qualifications:
• Residency trained
• At least three years of experience working as a psychiatrist
• Experience working with people with mental illness and intellectual disabilities
Additional Information:
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities. Males between the ages of 18 and 25 must be registered with the Selective Service. All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing. Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment at a state-operated facility.
