As a Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) Specialist within the Falcon team, your primary role will involve mission design and the implementation of innovative GNC algorithms for our Falcon vehicles.

You will oversee the complete mission trajectory process, which includes gathering requirements from stakeholders, conducting design reviews, simulating and analyzing missions, and managing operations on launch day.

Your contributions will set the benchmark for launch frequency by supporting all aspects of Falcon missions, including launch, re-entry, landing, and fairing recovery. This encompasses both commercial and government missions, as well as crewed launches.

We seek engineers who thrive on tackling intricate challenges, excel in a dynamic environment, and share our enthusiasm for pushing the boundaries of the space industry.

This role is crucial in advancing SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct trajectory design, optimization, and dispersion analysis for Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy missions throughout all flight phases, including ascent, entry, landing, and fairing recovery.

Develop flight constants and guidance parameters, ensuring they meet mission requirements while adhering to vehicle constraints.

Support launch and mission operations from preflight testing through to console operation, post-flight data analysis, and anomaly resolution.

Create software automation tools for mission design, analysis, testing, and reporting.

Perform trade studies aimed at enhancing launch vehicle performance and reliability.

Implement new software or algorithms to facilitate mission-specific capabilities.

Engage with customers to execute current missions and explore future opportunities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's degree in physics or an engineering discipline.

Experience in orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, modeling, and simulation.

Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

A Master's degree in physics or an engineering discipline.

Demonstrated experience in launch vehicle and/or spacecraft systems.

Aptitude for solving complex problems independently or as part of a collaborative team.

A strong passion for advancing the commercial space sector and human spaceflight.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Expertise in developing sophisticated software systems using C++ and Python, including backend infrastructure and user interfaces.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Availability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
