As a PTA, you will play a vital role in delivering patient-centered care to individuals in their homes, promoting wellness, and preventing complications.
Responsibilities- Provide physical therapy services and interventions under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist, in accordance with the physician-approved plan of care.
- Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment and any changes in condition to the supervising PT, physician, and other clinical staff.
- Document supervisory activities in the patient's medical record and monitor patient responses to physical therapy interventions.
- Participate in patient care conferences, in-services, chart audits, quality improvement activities, and peer-review activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of information relating to the physical therapist-client relationship.
- Make recommendations for follow-up care in coordination with the agency that admitted the patient and utilize other agency care providers to assist with referrals to community resources.
- Current license to practice as a physical therapy assistant, specific to the state you're assigned to work in.
- Graduate from an accredited physical therapy assistant educational program as set by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
- One year related physical therapy experience for PTAs entering home health care to ensure knowledge and skills are sufficient to safely provide physical therapy services to patients.
- Current CPR certification.
