At Sacred Heart Hospital, we are seeking an experienced and skilled Registered Nurse RN to assume the role of Pharmacy Services Charge Nurse. This critical position plays a vital part in ensuring that our patients receive high-quality care while working closely with our pharmacy team to optimize medication management.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating unit staffing, providing leadership, and implementing clinical objectives and quality patient care in assigned areas. Key responsibilities include assigning, directing, educating, and monitoring nursing and support staff during assigned shifts. They will also contribute to or perform performance evaluations of staff, assess daily patient care needs, and develop and distribute patient care assignments. Additionally, they may provide input for hiring, training, directing, development, and evaluating staff.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate unit staffing and provide leadership while ensuring implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care in assigned area.
  • Assign, direct, educate, and monitor nursing and support staff during assigned shift.
  • Contribute to or perform performance evaluations of staff.
  • Assess daily patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues that affect desired patient outcomes.
  • Respond to complaints about patient care and manage through established channels.
  • May provide input for hiring, training, directing, development, and evaluating of staff.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date, as well as a Registered Nurse credentialed from the Illinois Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. A Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing is also required, along with at least 1 year of experience. PICC insertion experience is preferred.
