Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care
    • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
    • Take and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, and blood pressure
    • Measure and record intake and output, including output from drains
    • Apply cardiac monitors and oximetry
    • Obtain EKGs and other diagnostic tests as needed
    • Perform normal newborn hearing screenings and other developmental assessments
    • Collect and process specimens, including urine, stool, blood, and sputum
    • Provide morning and evening care, including bathing, dressing, and feeding patients as needed
    • Assist with pre- and post-operative care, including positioning patients and applying special equipment
    • Respond to patient call lights and provide timely assistance
  • Indirect Patient Care
    • Maintain a safe and clean environment, including cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms and equipment
    • Restock supplies and equipment as needed
    • Assist with patient transportation and transfers
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment
Requirements
  • CNA certification or currently enrolled in a nursing program
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of college or nursing education preferred
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as needed
