Location Overview:

Situated in Gaylord, Minnesota, Michael Foods, Inc. is part of Minnesota's Healthy Heartland. Gaylord is conveniently located in south-central Minnesota, approximately an hour west of the Twin Cities. Our facility is responsible for producing liquid eggs, hard-cooked eggs, and various precooked egg products, including scrambled eggs, patties, and omelets.

Position Summary:

The primary objective of this role is to foster a safe and efficient work environment, encourage teamwork among your shift and across different shifts, lead by example, and proactively seek improvements for all associates involved. You will oversee the logistics workflow for the distribution center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to ensure team members are prepared, discuss daily workloads, and assess staffing needs.
  • Manage the opening and closing of doors, adhering to inbound and outbound protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with office personnel to maintain a consistent workflow on the production floor.
  • Oversee pallet truck deliveries, ensuring timely unloading and reloading of trailers with repair pallets.
  • Verify compliance with the Hot List procedure for loads.
  • Monitor the production floor for safety issues and take appropriate action.
  • Safely operate a forklift and assist operators with daily tasks when not engaged in lead responsibilities.
  • Maintain an organized and clean warehouse, ensuring that damages are addressed and pallets are stored properly.
  • Provide backup support to the supervisor in their absence.
  • Facilitate training and ongoing development for forklift operators.
  • Encourage teamwork within your team and across teams through positive communication.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and maintain sanitary conditions to ensure product quality. Report any conditions that may negatively impact food safety or personnel safety.
  • Take responsibility for the food safety and quality of Michael Foods products.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • At least six months of experience in a palletized warehouse environment is preferred. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are essential. Completion of a Powered Industrial Truck training program is required.
  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Strong mathematical and configuration skills are necessary.
  • Successful completion of the Michael Foods Powered Industrial Truck program.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions that benefit the company while ensuring employee safety.
  • All distribution operators will receive MFI-approved Powered Industrial Truck training and certification at the start of their employment.
