Key Responsibilities
- Conducts thorough evaluations of GYN and Non-GYN cytology specimens.
- Participates in Rapid On-site Evaluations (R.O.S.E.) as needed.
- Capable of executing all functions related to the Cytology Processor.
- Maintains and performs routine upkeep on imaging equipment while ensuring quality assurance documentation is current.
- Analyzes and interprets microscopic cytology preparations
Additional Duties
- Completes other assigned tasks as required.
- Adheres to all institutional policies and standards.
- For detailed responsibilities, refer to departmental documentation provided during orientation.
- Must comply with all regulations regarding the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI). Annual training and adherence to the UH Code of Conduct are mandatory.
Education: Bachelor's degree in biological or chemical sciences or equivalent qualifications as specified in CLIA 88 for high complexity testing; completion of a Cytology certified program is preferred.
Certification: ASCP certification or an equivalent credential is required. If not held at the time of hire, it must be obtained within three months.
Experience: Previous experience is preferred; however, graduation from a Cytology certified program is a minimum requirement.
