Position Overview
The Garlands of Barrington is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team. This full-time role involves providing essential nursing care and overseeing the Certified Nursing Assistants in delivering quality care to our residents.

Work Schedule
Day Shift: 7am - 7:30pm

Key Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to established nursing standards and implement facility protocols.
2. Guide nursing assistants and other staff in understanding policies and procedures.
3. Conduct regular rounds to assess resident needs and address care issues promptly.
4. Monitor and enforce infection control measures throughout the facility.
5. Identify and rectify safety hazards immediately.
6. Recognize resident emergencies and initiate appropriate care.
7. Uphold the Resident Rights protocol, ensuring respect and dignity for all residents.
8. Address concerns from residents, families, and medical staff, communicating effectively with the Director of Nursing.
9. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including residents, nursing staff, and external service providers.
10. Manage discharge and transfer processes, coordinating with relevant departments.
11. Maintain accurate documentation related to resident care and medication administration.
12. Assist in orienting new residents to the facility.
13. Ensure proper nutrition and hydration during meal times.

Performance Expectations:
1. Exhibit exceptional communication skills, demonstrating patience and understanding.
2. Write clearly and concisely, ensuring effective documentation.
3. Respond to inquiries promptly, researching options and following through with necessary actions.
4. Treat all individuals with dignity and respect, fostering a trusting environment.
5. Possess comprehensive knowledge of the facility to direct customers appropriately.

Qualifications:
1. Experience in acute or long-term care settings is preferred.
2. Must hold a valid nursing license in the state of Illinois.
3. Current CPR certification is required.
4. Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a positive attitude.
6. Adaptable to change and new responsibilities.
7. Familiarity with resident rights and reporting protocols for potential abuse.

Physical Requirements:
1. Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs frequently.
2. Ability to assist in transferring residents over 100 lbs.
3. Tolerance for extended periods of walking, bending, and standing.
4. Ability to push residents in wheelchairs as needed.
