Job Summary:

The Production Test Pilot is a critical role at Honda Aircraft Company, responsible for ensuring the quality and airworthiness of our production aircraft. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting flight tests, evaluating aircraft systems, and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing personnel to resolve any issues that arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial flight tests of production aircraft to evaluate airframe, engine, avionics, and other systems for compliance with FAA Certificate of Airworthiness standards.
  • Debrief engineering and manufacturing personnel on ground and flight discrepancies, providing technical assistance to aid in resolving issues.
  • Represent Honda Aircraft Company on FAA Certificate of Airworthiness flight checks.
  • Conduct test flights of customer aircraft following modification and post-Service Center maintenance.
  • Conduct customer acceptance flights prior to delivery.
  • Evaluate flights of used aircraft being sold and/or traded in to ascertain airworthiness and compliance with current functional standards for production aircraft.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing personnel to develop and maintain production acceptance test procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a technically related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience or Airframe/Powerplant experience required.
  • Total minimal flight time required: 1000 hours PIC total time, 500 hours turbine aircraft time.
  • First or Second class medical certificate required.
  • A&P License preferred.
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations.
  • Previous experience in flight test or as a maintenance test pilot preferred.
  • FAA Commercial multi-engine instrument rating.
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels within an organization.

Physical Requirements:

  • Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise, heat, cold, dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
  • Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  • Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements.
