Job Title: Instrumentation and Controls Designer

Technical Staffing Resources is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Designer to join our team on a long-term contract basis. The successful candidate will work onsite at a client's chemical manufacturing facility in Richmond, VA.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled I&C Designer to support our client site design team in instrumentation and process controls design for minor projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with instrumentation and process controls, as well as a strong understanding of electrical and controls systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design and modify electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, PLC and DCS I/O drawings, instrument loop diagrams, electrical equipment arrangement drawings, cable tray layout drawings, CCS (Cable and Conductor Schedule), instrument lists, instrument installation details, electrical equipment and instrument specifications, conduit routing drawings, panel layout drawings, and assembly details.
  • Work will encompass traditional 2-dimensional drawings and advanced 3-dimensional modeling.
  • Collaborate with client personnel and project team leaders to receive functional direction.
  • Gather field information, locate related reference drawings, prepare specifications, get quotes for I&C items, and write I&C sections of scopes of work.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in instrumentation and process controls design.
  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrument/Controls Technology or demonstrated proficiency in Electrical or Instrumentation Design in lieu of degree.
  • Experience using modern CAD Drafting software packages.
  • Experience in the Chemical Process or related industries with working knowledge of I&C equipment and systems design.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to plan, prioritize, and implement multiple, concurrent projects or activities.
  • Good communication and documentation of work products are essential.
Additional Information

Duties will include moderate field work, including walking, climbing, lifting, reaching (sometimes in awkward positions) to obtain physical dimensions, references, and field information.
