Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Installation Specialist to join our team at Manitowoc. As an Installation Specialist, you will be responsible for building and assembling vocational trucks through various technical skills, including hydraulic, electrical, and fabrication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble vocational trucks through technical skills, including hydraulic, electrical, and fabrication
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and instructions to ensure accurate installation
  • Follow established procedures and standards to ensure quality and safety
  • Attend pre-installation meetings to review project details and ensure understanding
  • Accurately read and use measuring tools, such as calipers, tape measures, and squares
  • Perform hydraulic, electrical, and fabrication tasks, including hose and fitting assembly, routing, and plumbing
  • Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics to ensure accurate installation
  • Utilize various power tools, such as drill, impact wrench, air ratchet, grinders, and iron worker
  • Utilize time tracking system to monitor and record work hours
  • Make recommendations for changes in procedures or job functions to improve efficiency and quality
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management
Requirements
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical understanding of hydraulics, electrical, and primary functions of equipment
  • Knowledge of basic hydraulics and 12-volt electrical systems
  • Knowledge of wiring stop/start systems and ability to use programmer
  • Knowledge of sizes of fittings and hydraulic hoses
  • Able to operate saw for cutting steel
  • Able to operate plasma cutter
  • Able to use oxygen/acetylene torch
  • Ability to adjust pressures and reliefs
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic welding and fabrication ability
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Mechanical design and/or practical experience in hydraulics, structural, or mechanical layout
  • High level of Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to understand fundamentals of mechanical systems as related to the commercial truck industry
  • Technical college degree desired, or structured on-the-job training program successfully completed
  • 2-5 years' experience in field service of heavy equipment desired

  • Perform job functions in a safe manner
  • Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by Company policy for the job being performed
  • Know and follow established job-specific and facility-wide safety and health procedures and rules
  • Actively participate in safety and health training and demonstrate competency based on training received
  • Bring safety and health issues, unsafe acts, and safety suggestions to management's attention or correct those you can
  • Have the ability to obtain a DOT card
