Job Title: Counselor II

This is a part-time, temporary grant position with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. The successful candidate will provide peer support services to individuals in the community after hours, promoting recovery, goal setting, and community crisis stabilization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides trauma-informed, strengths-based non-clinical assessment services and interventions to individuals and their families in crisis.
  • Follows up with individuals/families receiving Mobile Crisis services to ensure continuity of care and provide supportive interventions as needed.
  • Provides crisis preventative services through outreach and recovery support to individuals identified as high risk by local mental health centers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences and professional experience in human services or social services programs.
  • Current or former patient of mental health services.
  • Valid SC Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of recovery and ability to communicate orally and in writing.
