Job Summary

As a Pharmacist II at Cardinal Health, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective coordination of pharmacy operations in acute care hospitals, retail customers, and other healthcare settings. You will work closely with healthcare teams to provide customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality.

Responsibilities
  • Verify physician orders using the pharmacy information system and make adjustments according to established protocols.
  • Supervise Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliant and efficient operations of the pharmacy.
  • Adjust dosages based on established protocols for each drug, ensuring that dosages are appropriate for the patient's condition and in light of other medications the patient is using.
  • Educate patients on the proper use and expected effects of medications, especially when patients are using multiple medications, are beginning new regimens, or are being discharged.
  • Manage narcotics and inventory control and compliance, including regular documentation and completion of checklists.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Director in maintaining the pharmacy's accreditation and implementing operational changes within the pharmacy.
Requirements
  • Licensed pharmacist in the state of Indiana required.
  • In-patient hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and on-call as needed.
  • Ability to hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, and holding of small objects.
  • Computer savvy to learn and perform successful operation of multiple pharmacy information systems.
