About the Role

Burns & McDonnell is a leading engineering, architecture, and construction company with a strong presence in the mission-critical data center sector. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Mission Critical team in Austin, TX.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical design project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments.
  • Develop and implement electrical plans, adapting to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications, data sheets, and purchase recommendations.
  • Review electrical equipment vendor drawings and data interface with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in project schedule, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning.
  • Manage change orders and ensure effective project execution.
  • Apply expert knowledge of electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement non-standard design solutions for complex projects.
  • Quality review production drawings and project-related data.
  • Lead field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
  • Build effective relationships with clients, customers, and contractors.
  • Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.
  • Develop and present project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the electrical engineering practice.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 7 years of electrical engineering experience, with EPC project experience preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead the discipline design for large projects and delegate work tasks to team members.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
  • Ability to travel, with 25% of the time spent on the road.
