Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly experienced Rebar Ironworker Journeyman to work on our Port Arthur LNG project. The successful candidate will be responsible for reading and understanding blueprints, selecting rods, measuring, cutting, bending, and shaping reinforcing bar to exacting specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Aid in rigging operations, connections, and disconnections.
  • Select rods, bundle, measure, cut to length, bend, and shape reinforcing bar to exacting specifications.
  • Place rods in forms, spacing, and fastening them together, using wire and pliers.
  • Knowledge of the weights of different bar sizes per foot as well as bar diameters.
  • Position and secure steel bars in concrete forms and reinforce concrete.
  • Cut bars to required lengths, using a hacksaw, band saws, or acetylene torch.
  • Bend steel rods with hickey bars or a rod-bending machine.
  • May reinforce concrete with wire mesh.
  • Insure that all reinforcing material is in its proper position so that it receives its intended structural load.
  • Loads, transports, unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
  • Cleans and performs minor maintenance activities on tools and equipment.
  • Restocks supplies and materials as necessary.
  • Must be able to safely traverse uneven terrain with/without tools and building materials.
  • Must be able to climb vertical ladders and work above ground as necessary.
  • Performs a variety of tasks involving safe dexterous use of hand tools.
  • Safely operates power tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to climb rebar cages and walls and work at height while hanging from rebar structures.
  • Adheres to all safety procedures.
Requirements:
  • Typically requires 48 months of industrial construction experience.
