Job Summary

BHcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and supportive environment for survivors of domestic violence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning for survivors of domestic violence
  • Collaborate with office staff to ensure seamless sheltering and transportation of new clients
  • Offer emotional support and guidance to help adults and children understand feelings and behaviors related to abuse
  • Develop and maintain relationships with outside providers to ensure clients receive comprehensive support
  • Provide transportation for shelter clients, medical needs, and other essential services
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment at the shelter
  • Provide clients with information and referrals to external resources
  • Support groups and hotlines as needed
  • Develop and update client service plans to address their unique needs
  • Ensure accurate documentation and maintain a clean and organized shelter environment
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Two years of experience in human services, with a focus on domestic violence advocacy
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification required
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
