UPMC McKeesport Hospital is seeking a dedicated Clinician to enhance our 3C Addiction Medicine Unit and Hospital Consult Service. This full-time, salaried position plays a crucial role in leading a specialized team. On the 3C unit, we cater to patients who voluntarily seek assistance in addiction treatment. Our nursing staff addresses a combination of medical-surgical and behavioral health needs. The Clinician will collaborate to ensure compliance with all relevant County, State, and Local drug and alcohol regulations, while also participating in the consult service to educate medical staff across various units.

Sign-On Bonus: A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available within the first 90 days for those committing to a 2-year tenure with UPMC McKeesport.

The Clinician serves as a nurse leader, responsible for fostering a culture of excellence in patient care. This role exemplifies professional nursing practice under the guidance of the Unit Director or department manager. Key responsibilities include conducting employee evaluations, overseeing staff selection and hiring, and managing daily performance for a team of direct reports. The Clinician also provides educational support and clinical expertise, including orientation and training for staff, as well as general coordination of clinical activities. Additionally, the Clinician may be accountable for delivering nursing care as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster productive relationships both internally and externally by building teams and mentoring colleagues, while promoting positive communication and cultural diversity.
  • Utilize performance improvement tools to enhance care quality and work environment, integrating research and best practices into daily operations.
  • Mentor and educate peers, positively impacting the lives of patients, families, and healthcare team members through knowledge sharing and support.
  • Incorporate national professional standards and organizational goals to enhance patient safety, quality, and satisfaction, creating a compassionate patient experience.
  • Apply nursing knowledge within the framework of Relationship-Based Care, addressing the clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
  • Lead clinical nursing practice, identifying opportunities for improvement and guiding staff through transitions, while participating in shared leadership initiatives.
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience required.
  • A Master's degree is preferred; a BS/BSN is mandatory. If the BS degree is not in nursing, a Master's or higher degree in Nursing is required.
  • Demonstrated competence as a Professional Staff Nurse, with the ability to meet the developmental needs of patients across their lifespan.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with various stakeholders, including executives, managers, and patients.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities within a complex environment.
  • Exemplary clinical judgment and critical thinking skills necessary for patient care.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the practicing state is required. National Certification is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required.
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) certification is preferred.
