Key Responsibilities
  • Greet Customers: Welcome and engage with customers as they enter or leave the store, providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Process Transactions: Manage and scan transactions with customers using cash, credit/debit cards, or charge accounts, ensuring accurate counting of change and issuing receipts, refunds, or charge tickets as needed.
  • Engage with Customers: Ask open-ended questions to determine customer needs, provide product information, and offer solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Maintain a Clean and Organized Workspace: Ensure the sales floor, cash wrap, and surrounding areas are clean, tidy, and well-organized, reflecting positively on the company.
  • Report Security and Loss Prevention Issues: Inform your manager of any security or loss prevention concerns, verifying checks and watching for counterfeit currency.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience as a retail cashier or similar role is required.
  • Basic PC and POS Knowledge: Familiarity with basic computer skills and point-of-sale systems is essential.
  • Math Skills: Strong math skills are necessary for accurate transaction processing and handling cash.
  • Communication and Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills are required to provide a positive shopping experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Paladin POS System: Familiarity with the Paladin POS system is a plus.
  • Basic Knowledge of Selling Yard Products or Hardscape: Knowledge of selling yard products or hardscape is desirable.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting and Handling: Ability to lift and handle up to 70 pounds is required.
