ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: This role involves managing the operations and daily organization of the Automotive Laboratory. The individual will perform mechanical and technical tasks related to the setup, maintenance, and breakdown of laboratory equipment essential for instructional purposes, while also assisting faculty in both lab and classroom settings. Reporting to the Chair of the Industry and Transportation Department, this position is vital for ensuring a productive learning environment.
KEY DUTIES:
- Facilitates training and effective utilization of automotive equipment by students and faculty within the lab.
- Provides support to students during learning activities, adjusting training scenarios as necessary to enhance understanding.
- Assists instructors in preparing and executing learning activities by organizing available training resources.
- Collaborates with faculty to monitor student progress through the curriculum, conducting evaluations and assessments with minimal oversight.
- Conducts testing, cleaning, and routine maintenance of lab equipment, aiding in the setup and dismantling of demonstrations and training sessions.
- Offers technical assistance to students and faculty, overseeing the use of all automotive equipment, troubleshooting issues, and reporting equipment needs.
- Assists the Department Chair in maintaining compliance with ASE Accreditation, including record-keeping and documentation updates.
- Implements and reinforces lab safety protocols, ensuring a clean and efficient facility conducive to learning.
- Maintains inventory and ensures equipment functionality, participating in necessary technical training.
- Adheres to all institutional, state, and federal regulations.
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: An Associate's degree from an accredited college or technical institute in Vocational/Technical Education, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of two years of practical experience in automotive operations or a closely related area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with automotive shop operations and proficiency in the use of tools and equipment for automotive repairs.
Licensure/Certifications: A valid driver's license or reliable transportation for travel as needed.
DESIRED WORK TRAITS: Extensive knowledge of laboratory technology procedures in the automotive sector, adeptness with laboratory equipment (specifically automotive tools), and the ability to follow established laboratory methods and procedures.
