Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Management Business Solutions. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing cast metal products and associated tooling using Solidworks and AutoCAD.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) equipment to develop basic data and make preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals to internal and external customers.
  • Design and model foundry tooling, such as patterns and core boxes.
  • Work with the product development team to finalize new product designs, considering manufacturing capability.
  • Create 3D CAD models of designs using SolidWorks and prepare 2D drawings for manufacturing and maintenance purposes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop fixtures and other machining components from renderings or rough designs with contractors and vendors.
  • Contribute to the design of existing and new patterns and help build pattern design data.
  • Support the development of technical solutions to complex problems, requiring regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Interact with senior internal and external personnel on significant technical matters, often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Apply current technology and aid in the development of new technologies.
  • Help and lead troubleshooting problems associated with designs.
  • Assist with determining the feasibility of new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities, considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
Requirements
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Proficient with 3D printing (FDM and SLA) and 3D scanning.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or 10 years of experience with designing foundry tooling required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with foundry tooling.
  • Excellent attention to detail and troubleshooting.
  • Proven skills working with multiple materials, such as wood, metal, plastic, and electrical components.
  • Multi-tasking skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while consistently delivering quality work.
  • Solid time management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to take direction and responsibility for projects.
  • Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality, detailed work independently, highlighting key risks, and design dependencies to technical teams.
  • Communication with cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
