Magnet Medical is seeking a dedicated Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist to join their team in Omaha, Nebraska. This 13-week travel job offers an exciting opportunity to work with a specialized healthcare team and gain valuable experience.
Job DescriptionA Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist (CVIT) plays a crucial role in the cardiac catheterization lab, working alongside cardiologists and other medical professionals to perform diagnostic and interventional procedures. These procedures aim to diagnose and treat heart conditions, including coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, and structural heart problems.
The CVIT is responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment, assisting with catheter-based procedures, and ensuring patient safety during these complex procedures. Key responsibilities include:
- Pre-Procedure Preparation:
- Prepare the cath lab environment by ensuring all necessary equipment and tools are sterile, functional, and properly set up.
- Verify patient information, including medical history, allergies, and consent forms.
- Assist in the preparation of patients, including setting up monitoring equipment and ensuring proper positioning.
- Provide patient education and reassurance before the procedure.
- Assisting with Procedures:
- Assist cardiologists and other physicians during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiological studies, and other interventional procedures.
- Handle sterile instruments and operate X-ray fluoroscopy equipment during diagnostic tests.
- Monitor vital signs and report any abnormalities to the physician.
- Administer medications under physician direction.
- Post-Procedure Care:
- Monitor patients for immediate complications after the procedure.
- Assist in transferring patients from the procedure table to recovery.
- Help with patient recovery by monitoring cardiac rhythm and vital signs.
- Provide post-procedure instructions to patients and their families.
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills. Magnet Medical offers a competitive salary and benefits package for this 13-week contract position.
**Estimated Salary:** $65-$85 per hour, based on a 40-hour workweek, depending on experience and qualifications.
