Position Overview
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducting thorough assessments and documenting findings with precision, ensuring the use of proper grammar and complete sentences.
- Notifying relevant personnel regarding new admissions as necessary.
- Measuring and recording vital signs, as well as conducting various assessments including fall and seizure precautions.
- Monitoring, documenting, and managing all medications prescribed, including inventory and destruction processes.
- Evaluating patients with substance use and mental health issues, collaborating with healthcare professionals for effective medication management.
- Administering medications through various routes and performing routine vital checks as needed.
- Inputting medication orders into the electronic health record system.
- Overseeing the Medication Administration Record, ensuring accurate documentation of administration and patient responses.
- Delivering direct patient care to a diverse population across different stages of recovery.
- Working alongside colleagues to assess and address the unique nursing needs of patients and families, particularly those at high risk.
- Assisting in communication with Utilization Review regarding essential nursing information.
- Creating educational programs for patients and families, and supporting staff in their implementation.
- Collaborating with physicians to provide guidance on the optimal use of medications.
- Delivering personalized nursing care tailored to individual patient needs, following the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Providing direct patient care, including monitoring changes in mental and physical health, and responding to emergencies.
- Documenting nursing incidents and any medication discrepancies.
- Managing the medication system, which encompasses planning, storage, ordering, administration, and evaluation.
Ensuring the integrity of medications brought into the facility by clients and their families, while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with legal standards.
- Upholding the highest standards of confidentiality regarding client records, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Vocational or Professional Nurse certification from the Louisiana Board of Nursing.
Preferred Experience:
Background as a staff nurse, particularly in chemical dependency or behavioral health settings.
