Position Summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting Department. The ideal candidate will undertake various accounting and financial functions with minimal supervision, demonstrating the ability to identify issues, conduct research, develop solutions, and implement them effectively. This role involves applying accounting principles to analyze financial data and prepare comprehensive financial reports, as well as assisting in budget maintenance and cost projections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of the company’s financial statements.
  • Analyze and aid in the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Conduct monthly closing procedures and ensure adherence to deadlines.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
  • Apply GAAP principles to various business transactions.
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliation for significant balance sheet accounts.
  • Review and analyze financial statements.
  • Prepare journal entries as necessary.
  • Conduct other ad hoc analyses, reports, and projects as required by division management.
  • Maintain professionalism and ethical standards in all business dealings to enhance customer service and company goodwill.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year institution, along with four to six years of relevant experience and/or training. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to apply common sense understanding to follow instructions provided in written or oral form.

Preferred Skills

Certification as a CPA or CFA, or progress towards such certification, is strongly preferred. Strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and attention to detail are essential. Candidates should also be capable of accurately processing and recording a substantial volume of data.
