Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team at Franciscan Health. As a Medical Physicist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of radiation in our Radiation Oncology department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Radiation Safety Officer in all applicable Radiation Safety activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and quality assurance measures.
- Lead the implementation, acceptance, and commissioning of new Radiation Oncology and Physics equipment, ensuring seamless integration into our existing systems.
- Maintain Radiation Oncology information systems, ensuring data is up-to-date and secure, and oversee regulatory accreditation to ensure compliance with all quality and legislative standards.
- Participate in treatment planning, overseeing treatment planning by Dosimetrists, and perform calibration and quality assurance to ensure patients receive appropriate doses of radiation.
- Collaborate with staff, manufacturers, and field service engineers to minimize disruption of services and ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Plan and provide education to department staff to increase knowledge of practices and standards of care, and support and participate in clinical research to ensure effective procedures and better patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree preferred; Master's degree required.
- 2 years of experience preferred; Physician License (DR) required; Medical Physicist State License or Certification by (ABR) or (ABMP) required within 1 1/2 years of hire.
- Up to 20% travel required.
