Job Overview:
The role of the Special Needs Educational Support Specialist is to facilitate opportunities for educators to focus on the distinct requirements of students. Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; further education and/or training is advantageous.
- Possess or be eligible for a New Mexico Level III Educational Assistant license.

- Reinforce learning for small groups of students based on initial instruction from teachers.
- Provide individualized support to children requiring special attention.
- Facilitate independent study and enrichment activities as directed by teachers.
- Set up audiovisual equipment as needed.
- Assist with reading and storytelling activities.
- Support small groups of students in various settings.
- Engage in professional development training sessions.
- Contribute positively to the classroom, school, and district by maintaining high performance standards and fostering good interpersonal relationships.
- Model appropriate social skills when interacting with students, teachers, parents, and supervisors.
- Report any unsafe conditions in the school environment.
- Address the specific needs of students with special educational requirements.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor or school administration.
The role may involve sitting, standing, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, and moving light furniture.
Safety & Health:
- Knowledge of universal hygiene practices is essential.
Proficiency in operating multimedia equipment and other educational tools is required.
Work Environment:
The position requires adaptability to various noise levels, temperatures, and air quality. Responsibilities may include both indoor and outdoor tasks, with routine interruptions. Flexibility, patience, and self-motivation are crucial, as is the ability to work independently. After-hours work may be necessary.
