Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a convoy of buses to and from training areas, communicating with base command and senior drill sergeants as needed.
  • Drive motor vehicles ranging from sedans to 44-passenger buses, adhering to established time schedules and speed limits.
  • Verify destination routes and mediate problems to ensure the successful transport of trainees.
  • Complete vehicle utilization records, including miles operated, hours operated, and number of passengers transported.
  • Perform driver's maintenance in accordance with established regulations.
Requirements
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsements and other endorsements for buses exceeding 26,000 pounds and liquid transporters with a capacity of 1,000 gallons or more.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least two years of experience driving with a CDL preferred.
  • Familiarity with the military preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
Physical Demands

Frequently lifts items weighing up to 30 pounds independently and occasionally lifts up to 65 pounds with assistance. Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged amounts of time. Uses arms, hands, and fingers for pulling and positioning materials, sewing, and using tools such as shears.

Occasionally exposed to all weather conditions while loading and unloading vehicles. Drives in all types of traffic and weather and is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents. The operator is subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when loading and unloading vehicles.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust Level (NACI). Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. UIC Alaska reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
