Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Strong Village Veterinary Center. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians and veterinary technicians in all aspects of their duties.



Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in all duties, including preparing animals for exams and surgery, performing medical treatments, and administering medications.
  • Perform or prepare laboratory tests, including blood draws, blood smears, and fecal exams.
  • Obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens.
  • Work in cooperation with staff to attend to any immediate needs and maintain a healthy, safe, sanitary, pleasant, and clean facility for animals.
  • Provide excellent customer service, handling animals and their owners in a responsive, courteous, and tactful manner.


Requirements

  • Must be proficient with restraint and have a history working in a veterinary practice.
  • Knowledge of vaccination protocols and medical terminology is required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of a coworker.
  • Fluent in written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
