Manuscripts Librarian

Howard University is seeking a highly skilled Manuscripts Librarian to join our team. As a key member of our library staff, you will be responsible for processing manuscript collections, using standard archival procedures to sort, arrange, and describe collections of personal papers and organizational records.

• Evaluate, sort, arrange, describe, and implement preservation measures for manuscript and archival materials.
• Identify and accession manuscript and archival material as directed by the supervisor.
• Develop and implement technical policies and procedures related to the administration and processing of manuscript and archival materials.
• Collaborate with colleagues working in collection development.
• Maintain a course of personal professional development through active participation in archives professional associations or other professional activities.

• Master's degree from an ALA-accredited institution in Library and/or Information Science, or a graduate degree in the social sciences, literature, archival management, or a related field.
• Two years of professional experience in library, manuscript, or archives.
