Job Title: Vehicle Maintenance Helper

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Maintenance Helper to join our team at Alstom's Martins Airport, Maryland facility.

Job Summary:

The Vehicle Maintenance Helper will be responsible for performing various tasks to refresh the interior of the Marc II coaches, including flooring, seating, and wall covering. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be able to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally, and work safely to prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide labor for all tasks to refresh the interior of the Marc II coaches.
  • Responsible for performing all tasks to refresh the interior flooring, seating, and wall covering on the Marc II fleet.
  • Use basic hand tools and battery tools as needed.
  • Remove all seat cushions and seat frames, heater guards, and melamine wall panel trim.
  • Install new flooring tile, wall covering, heater guards, and wall panel trim.
  • Replace seat frames and seat cushions.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, balance, and climb on a regular basis.
  • Ability to push, pull, grip, and carry on a regular basis.
  • Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain.
  • Ability to demonstrate auditory and visual acuity.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures and humidity levels.
Working Conditions:
  • Work safely to prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries.
  • Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, and safety glasses.
  • Work hours may include a non-standard workweek, overtime, and various shift work.
  • Complete annual training and pass safety rules examination.
  • Subject to random testing for drugs and/or alcohol per certifications.
  • Must pass all required assessments.
  • Required to pass a post-offer medical examination, including drug and alcohol testing.
