Cafeteria Assistant

An ESS Education Cafeteria Aide is responsible for maintaining a safe and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria by supervising students during meals and ensuring their well-being. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively with students of various ages and backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise students in the cafeteria during meals and ensure their safety and well-being.
- Establish an efficient and orderly system for purchasing lunches and food items from the cafeteria.
- Circulate among tables during mealtime to assist students who need help or resolve any issues that may arise.
- Help students develop proper eating habits and promote healthy nutrition.
- Supervise students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, hallways, and during before and after school programs as needed.
- Ensure the cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas by washing tables when students leave the cafeteria.
- Assist in establishing and implementing an orderly system for disposing of food waste, returning trays, and dismissing students from the cafeteria.
- Provide playground equipment and assume responsibility for daily storage after the playground period.
- Assist in organizing play activities and games as approved by building administration.
- Assist with bus loading and unloading during arrival and departure of students.
- Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned by school administration and ESS.
- Understand and adhere to all ESS and school district policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Valid NJ criminal history letter.
- Negative tuberculosis test obtained within 6 months of initial employment.
