Advanced Additive Manufacturing Technician

MAU Workforce Solutions is seeking an Advanced Additive Manufacturing Technician for a prominent client. In this role, you will efficiently manage the processing of components through both the printing and post-printing stages utilizing various machinery within the development facility. Your focus will be on ensuring safety, maintaining quality standards, meeting delivery timelines, and controlling costs. Additionally, you will participate in ongoing improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the print and post-print fixtures and tooling while collaborating with the team to implement effective solutions. This position is a long-term contract assignment.
Shift Details:
- 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Essential Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Machining and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or
- At least 4 years of relevant experience
General Requirements:
- This position involves the use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export regulations, and applicants must be U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and protected individuals) with proof of status required prior to employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical skills and a willingness to learn new equipment and processes, including additive DMLM machines, as well as new software and controls as necessary.
- Experience operating manual machines, CNC EDMs, and 3-Axis Mills, along with the ability to read blueprints/schematics, interpret solid models, perform shop mathematics, inspect work for quality compliance, and follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to thrive in a development-focused environment.
- Team-oriented, with the capability to identify needs and communicate effectively with colleagues to contribute to team efforts.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating integrity.
- Ability to take guidance from senior technicians and manufacturing engineers.
- Experience in gas turbine component fabrication and related products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the processing (setup, operation, teardown) of parts through automated powder removal equipment and resolve any issues that arise.
- Manage the processing (setup, machining, teardown) of additive parts from build plates using Fanuc wire EDM and CNC saw, including troubleshooting and additional machining as necessary.
- Handle the processing of build plates for resurfacing on a 3-axis mill.
- Support manual processes for removal, grinding, polishing, and grit blasting of additive components.
- Prepare, set up, and process parts through shot peening, including basic programming modifications.
- Conduct all required quality inspections (visual and gauge) while documenting necessary information for the Manufacturing Execution System.
- Load, unload, and initiate heat treatment furnaces as needed.
- Assist in the maintenance of metal 3D Printers, including powder vacuuming and cleaning.
- Operate manual lathes, mills, drills, and saws for simple fixture or tooling modifications.
- Perform basic 'water spider' duties, managing part queues at operations, closing out MES operations, and resolving issues.
- Conduct Operator Preventative Maintenance (OPM) and troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including PAPR (Powered Air-Purifying Respirator) when handling metal powder.
- Engage in 5S activities, Kaizen initiatives, safety concerns, and other continuous improvement projects.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Physical Requirements:
This role may require the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for 8 hours in a manufacturing setting.
- Capability to lift tools, fixtures, and components weighing over 35 pounds, including reaching and climbing onto additive machines.
- Ability to wear PAPR during powder handling and cleanout activities.
