The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. As a key member of the surgical team, this individual works under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to maintain a safe operating room environment, ensuring that equipment functions properly and the operative procedure is conducted with maximum patient safety in mind.

Key Responsibilities

As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for:
  • Preparing the operating room environment to ensure a safe and efficient surgical procedure.
  • Assisting the surgical team with patient preparation, positioning, and draping.
  • Passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the procedure.
  • Monitoring the patient's vital signs and reporting any changes to the surgical team.
  • Participating in the cleaning and disinfection of the operating room and equipment.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with a graduate degree from an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D - Operating Room Specialist).
  • Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist, preferred.
  • Current Surgical Tech Certification, preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team.
