Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in the Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (PICU and NICU) at Medical City Dallas. As a key member of the healthcare team, the Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for coordinating and providing respiratory care services to patients, including diagnostic testing, therapeutic procedures, and monitoring of patients receiving mechanical ventilation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation
  • Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers as needed
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist or State Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) or Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT)
Program Requirements
  • Contract duration: April 5, 2025
  • Seasonal employees are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period
  • Three weekend shifts are required each 4-week schedule period
  • May be required to float to another facility within a close geography to meet emergent staffing needs
