We are seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Structural Engineer to join our team at Southwest Research Institute. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for performing professional aerospace structural engineering work involved in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex and comprehensive analysis and use systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approaches to implement, develop, and document projects.
  • Function as a structural specialist in design, analysis, and development engineering for critical structural systems.
  • Provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of professional aerospace structural engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of aerospace vehicles, systems, equipment, and components.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other related engineering field.
  • 5-12 years of experience in stress analysis, common structural failure modes, aircraft structures, aircraft fleet management, structural repair, static strength analysis, stress analysis, aerospace engineering, strength of materials.
  • 0-5 years of airworthiness certification (military and/or civilian) experience.
  • 0-5 years of design and analysis of structural repair concepts.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
