We are seeking a skilled professional to join a developing cardiothoracic surgery program in a community hospital environment. This role offers the chance to collaborate with a seasoned Cardiothoracic Surgeon, providing high-quality care comparable to that found in major hospitals.

The selected candidate will engage with patients throughout their surgical journey, including First Assisting in the operating room, managing ICU coverage, and conducting inpatient rounds for cardiac surgery. Responsibilities also include overseeing test results in the outpatient clinic and collaborating with the surgical team on ICU patient management. Additionally, the provider will be responsible for reviewing patient results and managing pre-operative assessments, with potential opportunities to see patients for post-operative follow-ups in the clinic.

This position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, with rotating weekend duties and on-call responsibilities approximately every third day and weekend. On-call duties will occur during evenings after rounding until the following morning, with compensatory time off during the week.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • For Nurse Practitioners, RN FIRST ASSIST certification and ACUTE CARE certification are required.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois, or as a Physician's Assistant in the State of Illinois, along with the necessary certifications.
  • Prior experience in cardiovascular or surgical settings is essential, as well as proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting.
