Location: Webster, New York
Role Summary:The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing care to patients who are ill, injured, or recovering. This role involves working in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing facilities, and private residences, under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer medications and initiate intravenous fluids, accurately documenting times and dosages in patient records.
- Monitor patients and report any changes in their condition, including adverse reactions to treatments.
- Respond to patient inquiries and determine appropriate assistance.
- Measure and document vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Provide basic patient care, including wound dressing, temperature checks, and administering enemas.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to assess patient needs and modify care plans as necessary.
- Evaluate the outcomes of nursing interventions and consult with other healthcare professionals.
- Utilize medical equipment such as catheters and oxygen supplies effectively.
- Track food and fluid intake and output for patients.
Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of nursing and healthcare terminology.
- Exceptional patient care skills.
- Strong communication abilities and adaptability in teamwork settings.
- Reliable and punctual.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a postsecondary certificate from a vocational institution or an Associate's degree in nursing.
- Current licensure in the state of practice.
- Certifications in ACLS, BLS, LPN, LPN/LVN, LTC, PALS, and other relevant professional licenses.
- Ability to float to various Family/Internal Medicine locations as needed.
- Capability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in ambulatory care settings is required.
• Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer may be necessary.
• The role may require extended periods of standing, moving, and bending.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds when necessary.
