Job Overview


The Aerospace Systems Technician is responsible for executing planned tasks related to the operational assessment of aircraft systems, surfaces, and structures in a static state.

This role involves adhering to the optimal production sequence as directed by Mechanical and Industrial Engineers. Any deviations or non-conformities in processes or products must be reported promptly.


The technician will establish systems for operational assessment through various configurations, ensuring that systems are ready for operation, making necessary power connections, installing required testing equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

The technician must recognize operational malfunctions, localize their sources, and direct or make necessary adjustments to align operations with specifications. Major rework or repairs required to restore system functionality will also be determined, planned, and executed. A comprehensive understanding of all components related to hydraulic, pneumatic, structural, and electrical systems is essential.

Responsibilities include ensuring area completeness, both interior and exterior, and final close-up tasks, including the installation of exterior panels before aircraft delivery.

The role requires proficiency in shop mathematics for layout and the application of trigonometry to solve right triangles for unknowns in given parts.

Physical Requirements
  • Full-time standing with limited rest periods; ability to walk distances and sit for extended periods when necessary.
  • Able to work at heights, climb stairs or ladders, and operate from step stools, scissor lifts, lift platforms, and aircraft structures without handrails.
  • Capable of performing overhead work as required.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to twist, bend, stoop, and work in awkward positions as needed.
  • Proficient in manipulating small tools and parts, performing simple grasping, power grasping, and fine manipulation.
  • High level of hand/eye coordination is required; corrective lenses may be used.
  • Able to work in environments with noise, chemicals, fumes, and dust, and use personal protective equipment as necessary.


Qualifications


Candidates should possess knowledge and experience with aircraft operating procedures, including power-on, hydraulics, or tethered utility feed systems for system checkouts and troubleshooting.

Experience in structural rework, repair, modification, and an understanding of the forming characteristics of various metals is essential.

Effective use of mechanics' hand tools is required, along with advanced knowledge of assembly theory, practices, and removal and repair techniques.



Preferred Skills


Experience in military aircraft assembly, maintenance, and/or modification is preferred, although commercial experience will also be considered.

Ability to obtain a security clearance is desirable.
