Job Description:

A Medical Assistant has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This involves caring for patients with acute and chronic needs. The ideal candidate is patient-focused and engaged, with a strong desire to advance their career while making a difference in people's lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic clerical and office duties, including assembling necessary documents and supplies.
  • Effectively use computer applications in the office setting to schedule, coordinate, and monitor appointments, inpatient and outpatient admissions, tests, treatments, and procedures.
  • Maintain medical records and other information, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Perform business and financial duties, including assigning procedural and diagnostic coding to encounter forms, conducting pre-authorizations and referrals, and facilitating timely billing.
  • Provide clinical functions within acceptable standards of care, including prioritizing patient needs, recognizing and responding to emergency situations, and preparing and maintaining examination and treatment areas.

Requirements:

  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program or 1 year of Medical Assistant Experience or current RN/LPN license.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications or registrations: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.
