Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

UAB Health System is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider to deliver care to our patient population in the UAB Vein Clinic.
Job Summary:The Advanced Practice Provider will work independently in the ambulatory Vein Clinic, responsible for maintaining accurate patient records, assessing patient needs, managing and prescribing medications as appropriate, managing wounds, providing treatment options and patient education.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate and diagnose Chronic Venous insufficiency, varicose, spider and reticular veins, acute and chronic DVT/SVT, venous/mixed venous ulcers, lymphedema, pelvic congestion syndrome and May Thurner and other venous diseases.
- Initiate first line conservative management for above diagnoses.
- Perform sclerotherapy and thermocoagulation spider vein treatment.
- Provide postoperative follow up s/p vein surgery.
- Perform venous/mixed venous ulcer care.
- Participate in venous quality care and IAC Vein Center accreditation.
Master's degree in Nursing with a Family NP, Adult Acute Care NP, Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP certification or graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing or licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners with certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required.
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:- Knowledge of procedures, protocols, information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, disease and deformities.

- Ability to be self-directed/self-motivated.
