Overview:
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality anesthesia care. This position is integral to the Department of Anesthesiology, focusing on patient-centered practices.
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher from an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program recognized by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthesia assessments, evaluating patient medical histories to anticipate anesthesia responses.
- Secure informed consent for anesthesia procedures.
- Administer anesthetic agents and manage controlled substances.
- Select and insert both invasive and non-invasive monitoring devices.
- Perform point-of-care testing as required.
- Develop and implement anesthesia plans, including general, regional, local, and sedation techniques. React promptly to emergencies with appropriate airway management and interventions.
- Facilitate patient recovery from anesthesia and monitor post-operative outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and detailed anesthetic records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as necessary.
- Participate in backup call services when required.
- Supervise and mentor student nurse anesthetists.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Current and valid Texas Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Current and valid Texas Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) License.
Compensation:
Salary is commensurate with experience.
