The Airframe and Powerplant Technician II is responsible for the thorough inspection, repair, overhaul, enhancement, and cleaning of aircraft. A&P technicians ensure that all maintenance is conducted in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations, aircraft manufacturer guidelines, and company protocols. Additionally, these mechanics maintain meticulous records of all performed work, inspections, findings, and adherence to safety standards.

Technician II's possess advanced skills to execute engine runs and taxi operations on various aircraft, perform basic engine and flight control rigging, communicate effectively with clients, estimate job requirements, and understand fundamental wiring and structural components. Senior mechanics are also expected to mentor junior staff and oversee multiple projects simultaneously. Typically, A&P Technician II's have completed two or more specialized airframe training courses.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Interpret maintenance manuals and inspection protocols
  • Oversee and manage projects and junior technicians
  • Conduct general and routine maintenance tasks
  • Review and inspect completed work
  • Perform complex troubleshooting of aircraft systems
  • Execute intricate engine and flight control rigging
  • Conduct engine runs and taxi operations
  • Collaborate effectively within a team, adhere to lawful directives, comply with company policies, and seek clarification when needed.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Oversee two to three Mechanic, Airframe and Powerplant I
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution, along with two or more years of relevant experience and/or training; or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of an Airframe and Powerplant license, with completion of multiple airframe training programs.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to analyze and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, or the general public.
