Job Summary and Qualifications
The Maternity Care Nurse

The Registered Nurse delivers direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.

Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing challenges as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. The Registered Nurse plans personalized patient care while employing an interdisciplinary approach. Participates in performance improvement initiatives. Provides care and coordinates participation that aligns with the hospital's mission and vision.


When acting in a charge nurse capacity, registered nurses are responsible for daily operations to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment.

Assign staff based on patient needs, acuity, and staff skills. Serve as role models and clinical resources for the team. Respond promptly to requests for information or follow-up regarding physician, staff, or patient issues.

What you will do in this role:


You will employ therapeutic communication in daily practice, maintain a safe therapeutic environment, and identify nursing challenges as they relate to the individual needs of the patient.

You must demonstrate age-specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, treatment range, and patient care. Ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality of their Protected Health Information (PHI) is fundamental to your role. You will utilize the nursing process for individualized care to meet patient needs and document all patient interactions. Your role demonstrates the ability to perform technical skills, adhere to procedures, and apply critical thinking. You will provide care and coordinate participation that aligns with the hospital's mission and vision.

What qualifications you will need:
Your degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (B.S. or A.S.)
- 1 year of RN experience
- Labor and Delivery experience highly preferred
- BLS and ACLS required within 6 months
- NRP required within 6 months
- AWHONN basic, intermediate, and advanced within one year


- CPI Training & Certification required within 6 months
- Current licensure by the Tennessee Board of Nursing or Compact State.
Parkridge East Hospital is a 120+ bed facility providing a full range of medical and surgical services, including orthopedics and robotic surgery. We have a 24/7 Emergency Department recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The facility also offers obstetrical care and complex gynecological procedures, as well as a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with specialized providers on-site at all times.
