Preoperative Nurse

The Preoperative Nurse provides high-quality patient care to individuals undergoing surgical procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of preoperative nursing practices, including patient assessment, medication administration, and education. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Assess patients' physical and emotional needs, implementing appropriate nursing interventions to ensure optimal care.
- Administer preoperative medications and perform preoperative instruction and explanation of procedures and patient rights.
- Start and monitor IVs, as well as perform Accu-Check for blood sugar and pregnancy tests as necessary.
- Record pertinent patient information on the nurse's notes and maintain confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information.
- Participate in overall Preoperative/PACU Department functions, including training new staff, attending staff meetings, and attending annual education in-services.
- Comply with attendance requirements and maintain professional competency through appropriate continuing education.

Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Idaho.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
- One year of general nursing experience preferred.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
