Key Responsibilities

As the Lead Application Security Engineer, you will oversee the application security initiatives and provide strategic guidance to the security team. You will play a crucial role in establishing organization-wide application security standards, addressing intricate security challenges, and engaging in technical discussions with software developers to clarify complex security inquiries and gather new security requirements. Your role will also involve mentoring engineering teams and security advocates to enhance the overall security posture of Samsung Electronics Perú's products.

In collaboration with the Director of Security Engineering, you will cultivate a proactive partnership with the headquarters security team to ensure alignment of requirements and balance technical innovation with industry-leading security practices.

This position offers the chance to significantly contribute to the Application and Data Protection program, leading initiatives in cloud security technology, including monitoring, reporting, and auditing controls. You will be integral in proactively securing Samsung Electronics Perú's products throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle, working closely with product and software development teams to identify threats, scan for vulnerabilities, determine necessary control points in the application stack, and conduct penetration testing on early software, systems, and network architectures.

You will collaborate with a team of skilled and passionate developers, tackling unique technical challenges to deliver exceptional products and services.

Essential Duties

  1. Conduct application security assessments, detailing requirements, verifying remediation, threat modeling, and data migration.
  2. Support engineering teams in developing security-centric software and infrastructure.
  3. Perform threat assessments and security audits on software and infrastructure.
  4. Establish hardening configuration standards.
  5. Implement web application firewall policies to safeguard public web systems.
  6. Contribute to the definition and enforcement of security standards for Cloud Native applications, firewalls, AWS configurations, and more.
  7. Engage in security evaluations of service architectures and serve as a Subject Matter Expert for engineering teams.
  8. Create a platform that enables engineering and corporate teams to understand their vulnerabilities and risks while supporting remediation efforts.
  9. Develop policies and documentation for security best practices for emerging technologies and generate metrics and reports on the cloud security posture of our systems.
  10. Investigate new technologies and methodologies related to application security and assess their applicability for Samsung Electronics Perú.

Required Qualifications

  1. Strong analytical and communication skills.
  2. Self-motivated with the ability to inspire team members.
  3. Proficient in breaking down larger tasks into manageable segments, delegating effectively, and ensuring completion without micromanagement.
  4. Enthusiastic about learning new technologies and passionate about application security.
  5. Expertise in OWASP Web Top 10 and threat modeling using established frameworks such as STRIDE.
  6. Strong programming skills and proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language, along with a solid understanding of AWS, Linux, and SIEM.
  7. Experience with penetration testing tools such as Burp Suite, Metasploit, or ZAP.
  8. Familiarity with static and dynamic application security testing tools.
  9. Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination, and analysis.
  10. Proven ability to implement complex security controls and configurations for cloud-based software and networks.
  11. Experience in threat modeling and penetration testing.
  12. Familiarity with DevOps models/pipelines as they relate to security integration.
  13. Experience with SAST and DAST.
  14. Solid understanding of security risk management.
  15. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  16. Excellent communication skills in English are essential.
  17. Fluency in Korean is a plus.
