Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Plant Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Smithfield Foods. In this role, you will be responsible for the clerical and administrative functions of the plant purchasing, including the maintenance area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process requisitions, open, distribute, and issue purchase orders
  • Maintain a database to track all orders and contact vendors with orders
  • Research vendor account information for order fulfillment and resolve invoice issues
  • Expedite and follow-up with suppliers to schedule deliveries and resolve materials issues
  • Control and track items that need to be repaired or rebuilt
  • Complete monthly preventative measures on tools, fall protection, and inventory of off-site parts
  • Manage consumable vendors and order required parts
  • Assist in reviewing Maintenance PMs for accuracy
  • Run and provide reports to upper management on purchasing and maintenance needs
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred
  • APICS Certification is preferred
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • SAP knowledge, preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bi-lingual, preferred
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Work Environment

The majority of the time is spent in an office setting outside of the production plant. The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
