Job Overview

Objective

The Lead Aviation Maintenance Engineer is accountable to the Director of Aviation Maintenance.

Key responsibilities encompass comprehensive oversight of adherence to FAA regulations, manufacturers' inspection protocols, and both Departmental and Company policies.

This role involves assisting in the delegation of daily tasks to personnel, as well as mentoring and providing on-the-job training to the assigned team regarding relevant technical information, job procedures, safety protocols, and general practices within the shop and hangar environment.

Additionally, the Lead Engineer may be designated as a Crew Chief for a specific aircraft, responsible for its legal compliance, inspection status, and maintenance forecasting.

In conjunction with supervisory responsibilities, this position entails performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, along with launch and recovery support.

Tasked with flying on corporate aircraft during international assignments, the Lead Engineer will offer technical expertise during in-flight and AOG (Aircraft on Ground) scenarios, while also addressing the comfort and safety needs of passengers, including the provision of food and beverages.

While managing cabin operations, the Lead Engineer must possess a thorough understanding of onboard communication systems, which include satellite TV, internet connectivity, and Iridium phone systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Execute maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, engine runs, and taxi operations that meet the standards set by the Company, regulatory bodies, and industry best practices.

2. Availability to work nights, weekends, or flexible hours as dictated by flight schedules (24/7 Operations).

3. Enhance aircraft dispatch reliability and operational availability through the role of Lead Engineer during international travel.

4. Serve as the passenger service provider and safety coordinator, requiring training in evacuation procedures, medical assistance, passenger service, and food handling protocols.

5. Ensure cabin configuration and related management functions are conducted in compliance with Departmental policies and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).

6. Demonstrate proficiency in the operation of all onboard passenger service equipment, including DVD players, SatCom, Aircell, BBML, and Airshow systems and applications.

7. Oversee that work performed by contract maintenance facilities is executed and accurately documented in accordance with FAA and AbbVie departmental requirements.

8. Actively participate in the Department Safety Management System (SMS) and contribute to achieving bi-annual certification through IS-BAO (International Standard—Business Aircraft Operations).

9. Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory, including ordering, shipping, and receiving.

10. Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in time-sensitive situations.

11. Possess a comprehensive understanding of avionics, electrical, and computer systems.

12. Exhibit a professional demeanor and exceptional customer service skills, alongside effective communication, interpersonal, and collaboration abilities.

13. Proficient in utilizing technology and computer applications, including Microsoft Office and related business software such as CMP/AVTRAK.

14. Pursue ongoing technical training and remain informed of industry advancements through conferences and seminars.
