Vocational Habilitation Trainer I

We are seeking a skilled Vocational Habilitation Trainer I to join our team at Texana Center. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in developing the skills and abilities of individuals with Developmental Disabilities and/or Dual Diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized skills and socialization services to assigned individuals in accordance with individual service plans, individual plans of care, and facility/departmental policy.
• Implement training programs and collect data on a daily basis to ensure accurate tracking of progress.
• Develop and implement behavior support plans, collecting data to inform future interventions.
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement new activities based on individual needs and preferences.
• Document provision of services accurately and consistently, adhering to standards, rules, and policies.
• Monitor client vital signs and weight as trained by the nurse.
• Transport individuals using Texana Center vehicles.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED certification required.
• Valid Texas Driver's License and insurability by Texana's insurance carrier.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPR, SAMA, and computer skills.
• At least 6 months of experience in a caretaker or day habilitation trainer position.
• Knowledge of IDD needs and activities.

Job Related Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform SAMA and CPR.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting, pushing, stooping, light carrying, repeated bending, reaching above the shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, and sitting and twisting.
• Ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle, and have depth perception.
