Detention Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Detention Officer to join our team. As a Detention Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and caring for detainees at our facility, ensuring that rules, policies, and procedures are applied fairly and consistently.

• Supervise and Monitor Detainees: Supervise and monitor detainees in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Coordinate Detainee Movement: Coordinate the movement of detainees, conducting counts and providing emergency response as needed.
• Ensure Safety and Security: Make sure program activities stay safe and supervise labor crews to prevent any potential risks or hazards.
• Conduct Shakedowns: Conduct shakedowns for contraband materials and confiscate prohibited items as per policies and procedures.
• Maintain Records: Keep daily logs on detainees, including disciplinary reports.
• Provide Assistance: Provide prompt and appropriate assistance to detainees who have been injured, ill, or have suffered trauma.
• Report Maintenance Needs: Report any maintenance or repair needs to keep the facility clean and secure.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Training and Experience: College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services, or related field preferred. Work experience in a correctional setting preferred.
• Physical and Mental Demands: Ability to work overtime as required, handle physical and mental stress associated with working extended hours, and be physically alert on any shift assigned.
• Other Requirements: Must be able to regularly report to work without being late, possess a valid state driver's license, and be mature, flexible, and able to command the respect and confidence of detainees and staff.
