Role Overview: The Cost Control Specialist is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and managing the financial aspects of large-scale construction projects. This role encompasses a variety of tasks including forecasting expenditures, planning budgets, categorizing costs, tracking man-hours, verifying supplier invoices, and managing change events that may affect the budget.

The Cost Control Specialist will operate under the guidance of the Project Controls Manager, collaborating closely with Project Managers and various departments such as Finance, Accounting, and Construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare precise monthly cost reports, comparing actuals to budget, assessing change orders, and conducting peer-group benchmarking.
  • Implement and utilize cost monitoring software to track expenditures and investigate discrepancies.
  • Conduct weekly budget reviews to identify and address overspending promptly.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members to gain insights into resource utilization and expenses.
  • Monitor project scope adherence to prevent unnecessary costs and delays.
  • Track budget allocation and spending for individual project components.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor expenses, labor costs, and materials to ensure compliance with project budgets.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a construction environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiarity with cost estimating software.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic.

This role is essential for ensuring that project costs are managed effectively, contributing to the overall success of Dragados' construction projects.
