About the Role:We are seeking a skilled and experienced CT Technologist to join our Radiology Department at LeConte Medical Center. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for operating high radiation producing equipment to produce high-quality CT images. You will work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective patient care.
Responsibilities:- Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of high radiation producing equipment to produce high-quality CT images.
- Select and operate the computed tomography system, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
- Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, post-processing, complete CT exams in electronic medical records, and send to PACS.
- Adjust protocols and dose as appropriate to maintain established Dose Reference Levels per ACR and AAPM guidelines.
- Identify and screen patients and others according to CT guidelines for safety.
- Obtain patient history, complete and verify accurate consents, informed consent, and/or permits as needed.
- Provide patient instructions/education to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with regulations.
- Apply principles of computed tomography safety to minimize risk to patients, self, and others.
- Identify, prepare, and/or administer medications as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
- Perform venipuncture for contrast media administration as ordered/per test design as necessary for CT procedures.
- Load and operate pressure/power injector for contrast media injection.
- May administer oral and/or rectal contrast as needed.
- May perform lab draws as applicable.
- Assist radiologists with CT procedures (biopsies, etc.).
- Assure time-outs are performed.
- Coordinate scheduling and patient flow.
- Proficient in clerical skills.
- Assist in inventory control.
- Educate, train, or orient new staff members.
- Provide education for student technologists.
- Stay current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and perform BLS as needed.
- Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Complete required education assignments annually.
- Work toward achieving goals and objectives, and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Must have successfully completed an educational program that is accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT.
- Must meet all the job requirements of a CT Tech.
- Must have and maintain one of the following:
- Path 1: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R) and within 1 year ARRT (CT) required.
- Path 2: Nuclear Medicine Technology certification board certified (NMTCB) and within one year ARRT (CT) required.
- Path 3: Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and within one year ARRT (CT) required.
